Rolf C. Hagen (USA) Corp. a major manufacturer in the pet industry is seeking Outside Sales Representative/Accounts Executive for various regions throughout the United States.

Job Purpose: The Outside Sales Representative/Accounts Executive will be responsible for increasing sales within their respective territory.  They will be responsible for establishing contact with existing customers, identifying new opportunities, and following up on potential leads.  They will also monitor industry trends in order to identify emerging markets and develop plans to utilize those markets to expand revenue.

As a member of the Sales Team the Outside Sales Representative/Account Executive would be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for high level multi box accounts.
  • Responsible for monitoring trends and category analysis.
  • Develop key account plans for assigned accounts; implement account strategy.
  • Implement and manage the effective delivery of key customer programs including communication strategies, customer training, issue resolution and utilization reporting.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the customers’ end user markets, their important customers, and their main competitors.
  • Ensure optimal client feedback to Sales Management or other departments with regard to product requirements and enhancements.
  • Ability to show growth within existing accounts.
  • Analyze areas of opportunity by category through competitor analysis and Hagen exclusive Merchandising target square footage.
  • Meet with top netting customers through on the road visits to discuss assortments and gain competitor advantage.
  • Ensure that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and that projects are profitable.
  • Review all major deliverables (i.e. strategic brief, function spec, tech spec, etc.) to ensure quality standards and client expectations are met.
  • Assist with new hire training, “ride-alongs”.
  • Deal with customer service issues associated with orders such as miss-ships, missing items, wrong pricing, sent to wrong address, etc.
  • Increase accounts by an established specific % each year while dealing with outside factors such as competitors and economic conditions and inside factors such as increasing cost of goods and MOQs, stock levels, and product mix.
  • Negotiate pricing for customer orders.
  • Mentor new hires and lead by example.
  • Coordinate with the Support/DC to effectively ship orders in a timely manner for high level accounts.
  • Willingness to travel outside the geographical territory for purposes of attending Conferences, training sessions, and/or area regional or national meetings.


  • Two-Five years experience performing in the capacity of accounts management in the pet industry, wholesale or retail product sales preferred.
  • High volume account management skills.
  • Experience with full sales cycle (prospect, qualify, negotiate, sell/up-sell, close, follow-up, maintain).
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
  • Experience servicing assigned territory accounts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a large sales team.
  • Possess the ability to generate and foster relationships with customers.
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
