Department: Sales & Business Partnerships Reports To: Director of Sales & Business Partnerships Location: Chicago, Midwest/Western United States Status: Full-time, Exempt Compensation : Base salary plus performance incentive Overview The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies that will result in meeting Institute of Food Technologistsrevenue projections. The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for identifying the needs and understanding the business objectives of IFT clients and creating customized, strategic partnership programs from the wide range of IFT products and services. The Strategic Account Manager will meet or exceed the agreed upon sales goals for the assigned accounts. Essential Responsibilities Meet or exceed annual sales revenue goals Understand the IFT, IFTSA and Feeding Tomorrow businesses to sell to clients Develop and deliver sales presentations and proposals Relationship development and management with key individuals, top decision makers and executive level at the partner companies and agencies Analyze, monitor and evaluate market conditions and provide input for the development of strategic plans and promotional programs to support sales efforts toward increased revenue Stay up to date on trends in industries of IFT clients Develop packages for clients that include various IFT and related businesses products Build and maintain effective sales plans, pipelines, forecasts and accurate records of all client interactions in LaunchPad CRM Responsible for managing, supporting, and servicing assigned strategic clients and accounts within assigned territory; oversee the customer experience with the IFT brand Address client concerns and ensure the resolution of issues in a timely manner, with appropriate follow-up Proactively conduct strategic account reviews with all assigned clients on a regular basis to review service needs and usage trends Travel to trade shows and client meetings Phone calls and related client communication throughout the week and sales cycle Manage travel and entertainment planning and expenses in a responsible and timely manner Experience Requirements Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, related field or equivalent experience 5 - 8 years demonstrated experience meeting or exceeding multi-channel revenue targets Experience in developing sales plans and packages that include a portfolio of print, online, sponsorship experiences, association programs, etc. Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding revenue and activity quotas Experience and knowledge of the food ingredients business is a plus Skill Requirements Ability to work as a team member and provide courteous service to internal and external clients Excellent interpersonal communication skills Exceptional professional proposal writing skills Exemplary presentation skills Project management experience Ability to gather and analyze client information and industry specific data to create client specific recommendations for improvement, offers solutions to challenges/issues Proficiency in use of Microsoft PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs Experience with CRM tools is a plus, specifically Launchpad Manager Skill Requirements Manage projects, processes, and/or people to accomplish personal, departmental, and organizational goals Improve customer service experience, create engaged customers and facilitate organic growth; take ownership of customer issues and follow problems through to resolution Display team player mentality; maintain collaborative relationships within and across departments Display a proactive spirit; continuously offer solutions to challenges/issues and provide suggestions for improvement Reason effectively and come to logical conclusions as one type of analysis for problem solving Support IFT financial and budgetary standards through appropriate use of resources Maintain a presence and passion for the role & organization while at work Work Conditions Travel, including the ability to attend evening and weekend meetings is essential Sitting for extended periods of time
