The American Medical Association (AMA), the nations largest professional Association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual as an Account Manager in Physician Engagement. This position is the front line, closest connection to the customer, representing the AMA. Primary role for this position is being responsible for Resident group membership recruiting and retention efforts related to assigned accounts, territory or sub-segment. This position provides support to subject matter experts (SMEs) by serving as the voice of the Residents we intend to serve by meeting with Residents/Fellows and assisting MST team and SME in identifying existing and emergent needs of this group. It will also support in identifying resources to fulfill those needs and opportunities. This position is responsible for increasing the overall cognitive, emotional and behavioral engagement of physicians with the AMA.


Bachelors degree or equivalent degree or relevant experience.
3 5 Years successful experience selling intangible and/or tangible products and services in the physician marketplace.
Knowledge of assigned Resident segment.
Experience with GME leadership with this segment.
Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills and knowledge of customer relationship management concepts.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadline and performance objectives.
Experience with marketing engagement and distribution disciplines.
Knowledge of the AMA organization.
Knowledge and operational understanding of AMAs strategic focus areas.
Knowledge and operational understanding AMAs physician-oriented businesses.
Experience with tools related to digital interface and use of social media.
Demonstrated ability to close sales and influence action.
Excellent understanding of state and federal dynamics impacting this segment.
Strong ability to understand and interpret the differences between sub-segments.
Knowledge and understanding of various types of ownership and organizational structure and consolidating industry issues, i.e., ACOs, and others.
High level understanding of policy issues.

Specific skills and abilities:

Sales planning, and calling processes prospecting, qualifying, call planning and closing skills and ability to teach these disciplines to others.
Experience in sales from lead generation to closing the sale.
Proven expertise in customer relations management.
Ability to work collaboratively with peers and AMA SMG members.
Ability to work in a seamless and highly collaborative manner with cross-segment specialists in the Physician Engagement unit.
Possesses an abiding curiosity and a bias toward investing time in the field interacting and learning from physicians.
Ability to execute metric driven operational plans.
Ability to translate unmet market needs to service/ product concepts and to work effectively with product development teams on those concepts.
Excellent political acumen.
Exceptional personal gravitas, communication skills and presence.
Occasional travel ~ 30% of the time.
