Struers, ( the world's leading manufacturer of materials testing equipment and consumables, is looking for an Outside Technical Sales Representative to generate sales of Struers Inc. equipment, accessories and consumables in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.  Primary duties include traveling to existing and potential customers to further equipment and consumable purchases, as well as provide on-site training as required to our Fortune 500 customers and other clients.  

The incumbent will be based in the Connecticut or Massachusetts area and work from his/her home office with support services and training from our US headquarters in Westlake, OH.  He/She will travel locally and nationally and be part of a team of 25 sales representatives. 
The ideal Outside Technical Sales Representative is a results-driven sales professional with 3-5 years of prior successful sales experience in industrial or capital equipment sales, is able to travel overnight, and will be the face of Struers Inc. for our customers.

Struers has affiliates in 22 countries and sells materials testing equipment and consumables to manufacturers of automotive, aerospace, electronics, materials manufacturing and a wide variety of other industries which must measure and control the quality of the solid materials used in production.  Our customers rely on our products for Materialographic Sample Preparation, Hardness Testing, Microscopy and Image Analysis & Archiving.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Generate sales of Struers Inc. equipment, accessories and consumables consistent with budget levels for the designated sales territory
  • Travel to existing and potential customers within a designated sales territory to further equipment and consumable purchases
  •  Carry out sales administration tasks required to support sales activities and document changing customer profiles
  •   Maintain records of customer contacts using the Pivotal software package, ensuring that key contact information is updated, appointment purposes and results are logged and forecast information is accurate
  •   Provide management with accurate forecasts of potential sales on an on-going basis
  • Maintain dialog with existing customers to provide technical support, product information and updated pricing


  • Prior successful sales experience in industrial or capital equipment sales preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ability for overnight travel 
  • Must be organized with the ability to focus on priority projects and tasks
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Expertise with group presentations (PowerPoint) preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs, Microsoft Office 
  • A clean drivers record within the last two years is required
