SUMMARY: The National Account Specialist is a member of the DON Sales Team and is focused on the acquisition and development of new business in the national, multi-unit and large independent operator arena . Requiring a broad knowledge of our products, services and marketing techniques, the Specialist is tasked with increasing sales in a designated sales territory. The National Account Specialist shall follow the course of highest integrity and adhere to the Company's Standards of Conduct in his/her business relationships.

RELATIONSHIPS : Reports to a District Sales Manager. Interacts with all sales functions to identify and communicate new selling opportunities within the account group.


Call on established National / Regional Accounts, Multi-Unit and large Independent Operators to introduce, monitor and enhance program compliance and identify areas for increased sales
Seek and identify new business opportunities in assigned sales territory.
Conduct meetings on a regular basis with first level managers of each account.
Keep informed on new products, pricing, and other general program and industry information.
Act as a consultant, to provide advice and guidance to customers in relation to their requirements.
Insure proper service and follow-up.
Display or demonstrate product, using samples and catalogs, to emphasize features and benefits, where applicable and within program parameters.
Review receivables for all accounts and resolves any credit/collection issues with the Corporate National Accounts Credit department or Distribution Center Credit Department.
Ensure accurate pricing per program parameters.
Maintain daily contact with internal departments, customers, factory representatives, and other outside sources.
Report on current activities and matters concerning assigned National/Regional accounts to the National Account District Sales Managers and National Account Managers on a regular basis.
Keep records and reports on all phases of activities.
Monitor competitive activity.
Other duties as assigned.


Required: Minimum knowledge, skills, education/training, experience, physical obligations:
*Associates degree and 2-3 years experience in the Foodservice industry in an office environment or H.S. Diploma or GED and 5 years of progressively responsible Foodservice industry experience in an office environment.
*Ability to write business correspondence.
*Ability to solve problems, multitask, and work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
*Ability to use Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel and Word).
*Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Must exhibit good analytic skills.

Preferred: Minimum knowledge, skills, education/training, and experience, physical obligations:
*Bachelors degree from four-year college or university.
*Two to three years of experience in sales or customer service experience in an office environment.
*Previous SAP experience a plus.
