Overview

The Account Manager (Stakeholder Business Partner) is responsible for supporting designated accounts and other, non-traditional stakeholders. Specifically, the Partner is a primary point of contact for assigned Integrated Marketplace and Western Market Participants (MPs), Transmission Customers, Transmission Owners, Meter Agents, Members and other SPP Stakeholders. The Account Manager is expected to initiate and develop relationships with key individuals within their portfolio of assigned accounts to independently assess specific business needs and develop a plan of action for solving those needs. This requires the ability to navigate the full stakeholder organization up to and including executive staff.

The Account Manager is expected to participate in enterprise-wide team efforts related to all externally stakeholder facing and impacting projects and initiatives. He/she also serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Stakeholder Relations departmental activities. The position manages and administers key department projects designed to improve the effectiveness of the group, and therefore must have a broad understanding of all functional areas of the company to facilitate working with other departments.

The position requires extensive contact and work with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as with all SPP Stakeholder organizations. The employee is expected to work independently using a combination of institutional knowledge of the electric utility industry and relational skills to achieve effective, collaborative results. A rapid pace, stringent deadlines, and a large volume of work characterize this department.

Essential Functions

• Resolve issues presented by Stakeholder in a timely manner
• Establish and develop key relationships to understand the business needs of SPP's stakeholder organizations
• Represent the voice of the stakeholder within SPP to better plan and implement stakeholder projects and initiatives
• Provide leadership to smaller subject matter expert groups to enhance stakeholder engagement and success
• Create effective outreach plans for different types of stakeholders
• Comply with assigned SOC1 Controls for the department, and ensure control activities occur as appropriate
• Understand and comply with SPP Policies and Procedures
• Seek out and collaborate on innovative improvements within the Stakeholder Relations team
• Lead innovative improvements within the Stakeholder Relations team- level 2

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

• Account Manager II - Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business-related field; or three (3) years of job related work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement
• Senior Account Manager - Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business-related field; or six (6) years of job related work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement

Experience Requirements:

• Account Manager II - 3+years of job-related experience
• Senior Account Manager - 6+ years of job-related experience

Required:

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, specifically demonstrated in a customer service role
• Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office products and database applications
• Strong problem-solving abilities

Preferred:

• Electric utility experience
• Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
